Who are we?
HISPA International, Inc. is a private, Florida-based 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization committed to empowering individuals through world class educational, career, and workforce readiness services and programs.
Vision
An international community of stakeholders dedicated to building a stronger, more prosperous America.
Mission
Our mission is to strengthen international business and commerce across the Americas and the Caribbean by supporting students, partnering with organizations and institutions of higher education, and bridging top talent to employers.
Our Purpose
HISPA International exists to provide resources and services to college students, universities, business professionals and corporations as a means to addressing the growing international business demand for multilingual (primarily English, Spanish and Brazilian-Portuguese) talent across the Americas and the Caribbean. We believe language is not a barrier, rather a portal to opportunity.
Expanding Local and International Opportunities
With over $30B in Latin American and Caribbean (L.A.C.) imports to the U.S. and $43B in exports from the U.S. to the L.A.C., the U.S. currently faces an employment landscape that requires a multiplicity of cultural, linguistic and global knowledge that equips the workforce to interact stronger, more mindfully, and more culturally aware than ever before. Companies will continue to experience a growing need for talent that can effectively meet these global challenges so their businesses can grow, compete and prosper locally and internationally. We believe our investment in talent pipeline development addresses the most urgent needs of our employer partners - a credentialed, skilled and prepared labor force.
Why English, Spanish and Portuguese?
Simply put, these have been the three predominant languages of the Americas for 400-500+ years.
Commerce and trade have been interconnected with language for thousands of years, since trade began.
Over 100 U.S. (English-speaking) Colleges and Universities have Spanish and Portuguese programs, more than any other country in the world, which can be leveraged to support international expansion and trade in Latin America and the Caribbean.
With the U.S. Hispanic market size at $2.6 Trillion, the Hispanic consumer is vital to U.S. economic growth.
Brazil has the 3rd largest economy in the West with GDP at $1.9 Trillion
The Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America and the Caribbean are grossly under-tapped markets.
Perhaps most importantly, bilingual and trilingual talent who are able to serve multiple markets creates a cost savings (one person vs two or three), significantly reducing Cost of Labor.
Further, to compete with aggressive Chinese expansion in the LATAM/LAC region, U.S. Fortune 500 companies, especially those that already have a presence Latin America and the Caribbean, need a talent strategy and talent pool to bolster growth in their LATAM/LAC markets. The only way to transition from having a U.S. trade deficit to a trade surplus is to: 1) manufacture and produce in the U.S. and 2) sell to our neighbors who, undoubtedly, love and enjoy U.S. made products and services.
Finally, the U.S. urgently needs to adopt a new trade policy in Latin America that outpaces China, and a sustainable strategy that supports it. The current trend is deeply concerning, but can be turned around by supporting and leveraging U.S. educated students and graduates.
